ACRE stands for the valuable agricultural land of the Blackland Prairie and the culture that has developed on it - the historic communities of Eastern Central Texas and the unspoiled pastoral landscapes. We are helping to preserve our area by covering news and projects that impact us.

Julie
and Alvie Campbell are the proprietors of Tamales To Go.
Many of us remember when they were selling tamales at
the corner of Hwy. 95 and FM 1660.
Then for a while, they were located in the Old Times
building in Rice’s Crossing.
Now they have their own place, the red Tamales To Go
building behind Stock-Up in Coupland.
There are delicious tamales of pork, spicy pork, chicken,
bean and cheese, and hot cream cheese, plus fresh home-made
hot sauce.
In
the new location, Julie has added pulled pork sandwiches,
pork tips and rice, and barbacoa and pulled pork tacos.
Tamales To Go is usually open Wednesday through Sunday,
opening at 10 a.m.
You can place orders in advance at 512-791-2295. Days
and hours can vary, so it is best to call and
check—512-791-2295.
They are open late on Friday and Saturday nights so
that people can come after the Dancehall closes.
Julie emphasizes, “Everything is fresh.
Other than the tamales, everything is made when it is
ordered.
I don’t
cook things in advance and have them sitting here.
Even if it looks like
we are closed, people should call me anyway, because I might
be in there fixing orders.”
Julie also provides catering services.
